Superheroes

Comic book cover sweater & denim skater skirt: TOPSHOP | Shoes: CONVERSE

I bought this sweater about a month ago now and I am certain that it's one of the coolest things I own (as well as my Ironman and my astronaut t-shirts).  The weather's been lovely over the last couple of days but me being me I'm never sure if I'm still going to be cold or not, so this sweater is perfect for me as I can keep warm but still have the legs out so I don't look like a weirdo who dresses in layers in summer.
I don't regularly shop online on Topshop as I have more control over my impulses than I do in a physical store, which shows just how much I must like it as this was swiftly added to my basket.  I think the colours of the sweater are what initially really drew me to it.  It has a purpley-blue colour which I haven't really seen on clothing before, and the yellow and the red look absolutely awesome against it.  (Am I making sense or am I just rambling about colours...?  Moving on.)

I don't know, I just dig the whole I'm-a-geek-but-a-really-cool-one look.  Especially now Cara Delevingne has made the look even cooler.  I thought it went pretty damn well with my Chucks as they tie into the whole geek chic thing.
I can't get enough of this denim skirt at the moment, especially now the sun is coming out and I don't need to wear tights.  You can't see here but it fits so perfectly on my waist, I can't wait to wear it with different crop tops.  I can see it becoming one of my favourite pieces.

Palms to the sky

Black tee & gold symbol necklace: TOPSHOP | Black organza skirt: H&M | 'New York' hat: RIVER ISLAND |
Shoes: CONVERSE

Mum very kindly bought this hat for me when we were in Manchester on Wednesday.  I'm not sure what drew me to it, but I've got a feeling Rita Ora and Rihanna's ability to pull off cool, random beanie heats may have played a big part in it.  Because it's new and different to any of my other hats I'm not exactly sure how to wear it, perhaps I need to be from the ghetto, or just a down right gangstah.  The combination of colours also mean you can't team it with just about anything, so inevitably my first outfit including it was, er, pretty much all black.  I couldn't help adding my red Converse, though, at least I knew that they would match with it.  I also thought the necklace went really well and gives the look that little something extra.
I do really like this hat and I just need to go out of my comfort zone and get more used to wearing it.  I think it'd look great with my loose, denim shirt and my skinny leather trousers, or just a little black  dress.  Besides, if I get lost for ideas, I can always Google good old Rihanna and Rita for some inspiration...
Hope you're all having a lovely Christmas eve!  I went out for lunch with my mother, then went shopping for the last few bits and bobs, then came home and watched 'The Prestige'.  Hopefully we have a reeally nice day tomorrow, we'll be doing the usual and just opening presents and having a massive tea and watching the Christmas special programmes on telly.  What will you be doing tomorrow?
Hope you have a good one!

My whole life waiting for the right time

Studded faux leather jacket, denim dungarees dress & skeleton top: TOPSHOP | Shoes: CONVERSE

This dungarees dress is probably not so easy to dress as I don't want to end up looking like an overgrown child, but I have been wanting to team it with this top ever since I bought it as I was pretty sure they'd go well together, and go well together they do.  Which is perfect for me as the top isn't the easiest item to wear in the world, either.  Fancy that!  Maybe not your standard Sunday outfit for slouching as they both are quite 'out there' pieces, in terms of it gets you a lot of looks off people giving you second glances, but hey, I'm cuh-razyyyy.
Before I bought this top I had wanted a skeleton top for ages so when it came in stock I didn't wait to buy it.  And yes, I will wear it all year round as I think it would look equally as good with a pair of denim cut-offs as it would with a pair of leather trousers.  I will also get a lot of wear out of the dress in the summer, too, without the tights and layered over a white shirt.
Today I decided to add the studded jacket to toughen up the look and probably make it look a bit more grown up, heh.  I also brought my red Converse out to play as well as a slick of red lipstick to inject a bit of colour into the outfit.
So there's my outfit today guys.  I spent my Sunday having a lie in, going out for breakfast with my mother (beans and egg on toast is the BOMB) and then popped into town.  I'm now back in my room in Manchester watching 'The X Factor', eagerly waiting for Rihanna's performance.  Will you be watching?  I hope James Arthur wins because he's the only person, ever, from X Factor whose music I would actually buy.  But the fact that I quite fancy him probably plays a part in that.  I'm a sucker for sleeve tattoos...

Shut your eyes and think of somewhere

Cream knit jumper: TOPSHOP | Black coated mini skirt: ZARA | Green beanie hat: ASOS | Shoes: CONVERSE

I call this outfit 'slouchy grunge'.  I was orginally just going to wear a t-shirt but I thought that would be flashing a little too much flesh when the weather could turn horrible at any moment, so my biggest, comfiest jumper was the safest option.  To stop the outfit being too boring and 'meh', I added my new beanie hat and injected a bit of colour with my red Converse.
The skirt is one of my new purchases from my recent online shopping spree.  It's a really great transitional item which is exactly why I just had to get it.  Well, that and the fact that it was only nine pounds, but I added to my wishlist when it was full price, so yeah... I think it looks just as awesome in leg-baring outfits like this one, as it would with a pair of tights and a big coat in the winter.  When I do shopping I almost always don't buy something unless I know I could wear it for each season, rather than just a fraction of the year, which actually works out pretty damn good.  I love the coated effect of the skirt which makes it a little different than your average black one, and it would also add a little edge to a blazer and a pair of loafers when I want to prep it up a bit.  I think this will definitely be one of my go-to items for the next season.  And to say I bought it for under a tenner in the sale, it is definitely an investment piece.
I was also pushed the boat out a bit today and missed the top pair of loops out when tying my Chucks.  I've seen a few people do it before, and I suppose I should wear them in a slightly different way since I have a pair of Converse on almost every frikkin' day (cool kid).  I think it makes it look like you've been wearing them for years, which is exactly how I like them to look.
Like I said yesterday, I am off to see 'Step Up 4' tonight, but other than that I am having a completely lazy Sunday and being a huge couch potato.  I might as well make the most of it, though, as next month I could be going to university... I get my results on Thursday, scary!
Hope you're all having a nice, relaxing lazy day!

When in doubt, throw on a denim shirt

Denim shirt & black skater dress: TOPSHOP | Shoes: CONVERSE

Oh hellooo little black dress we meet again, except I fear sometimes you can be a bit boring on your own, so I thought 'let's bring something else into our relationship for a bit of variety', which is where denim shirt came in.  It was an easy choice, really.  Denim shirt gets on with just about anyonething.
It's a simple item, but is undoubtedly timeless and a staple piece in anyone's wardrobe.  I love coming up with new ways to wear things and throwing on a denim shirt over a dress just seemed like an obvious option.  Not only a new way to wear the dress but also a new way to wear the shirt, result.  I haven't worn it unbuttoned before but I thought it gave the dress a nice masculine touch, especially with the slightly rolled up sleeves, but it could have easily been more 'girlie' if I had tied it at the waist, or even a little belt over the shirt would have been a nice addition.
So to sum up, if you haven't got a denim shirt, buy one.  Like, right now.  It’s a really versatile item once you’ve got your head around how to wear the item, both in a casual way and with more dressy pieces (like this dress).  And even now after owning mine for a few months I am still learning new ways to wear it.  It also makes a great layering piece for autumn/winter time, need I say more?!
I have nothing to report from my life lately, except that I have really been enjoying regular threesomes with two men called Ben and Jerry.  Don't hate me 'cause you ain't me.

Peekaboo

Charcoal tiger tank top, red lace bra & black jersey skater skirt: TOPSHOP | Shoes: CONVERSE

The tiger top is back, baby.  Although it clearly wasn't exciting enough for me as I couldn't resist stretching the sleeve holes until I was blue in the face.  No regrets, though, as this outfit would have been bloody boring without the flash of bra from the side.  You know what they say - 'When in doubt, get your bra out'.  Well, they will say that from now on, anyway...  I bought the top a few months ago after seeing the print and wanting to buy it immediately.  Tigers are AWESOME, in fact one of my Pinterest boards named 'Other lovely things' actually contains 50% of pictures of tigers, ahem.  I thought I would team it with my plain black skater skirt.  It is an incredibly boring item, but that actually worked to my advantage today so the focus of the outfit would be the flashes of red (see: lipstck/bra/shoes).  It's easy to adapt this outfit for when it starts getting colder, too (i.e. tomorrow), which is always a bonus.  Just whack on a chunky cardigan and a pair of tights and wham bam thank you ma'am, you're done.
I don't know if you'll notice or not but I've had my hair done recently so there is no sign of rootage (finally) and I've gone quite a bit lighter.  I am really pleased with the result, and I feel much better wearing a simple outfit like a t-shirt and jeans because the hair alone makes a statement.  Looks damn good with some red lippy, too.  Win.
I also went to see 'The Dark Knight Rises' for the second time (which I never do) during the week  and it was still uh-maaazing.  I think I am going to see 'Ted' at some point next week which looks ridiculous, but fun.
Hope you have a nice weekend!  I think I'll just be spending mine watching my 'The Big Bang Theory' DVDs, so nothing too crazy...

I got a secret that I wanna show you...

White bow back skater dress: ASOS | Jewellery & bow stocking tights: TOPSHOP | Shoes: CONVERSE

Not to brag or anything but I LOVE this outfit.  When I'm getting dressed I have a tendency to just add things to my outfit, which in this case applies to the tights.  I'm never sure about mixing black tights with a white dress because I suppose it's a much more summer appropriate colour to wear, but because of the stocking style I really love how they look with the dress.  I think all of us has that one (or more) thing which we wear which will undoubtedly make us feel sexy, a slick of red lip lipstick, perhaps?  Well I've decided for me, it's these tights.  The dress is quite feminine and angelic, but the tights immediately make the whole ensemble seem slightly seductive.  I feel like this outfit is very good-girl-gone-bad, and I'm digging it.  The tights definitely get a lot of looks when I wear them, I think people are trying to figure out if they're actual stockings or not, but hey, the more convincing they are, the better.  I'm not sure I'm brave enough to show off some actual stockings, but I'd definitely like to try it some time (think what you will, if I like it, I'm gonna wear it...).  What do you think of stocking tights?  I know they're not for everyone!
I went to see Magic Mike on Friday night, I did enjoy it and it was fun to watch.  Plus, Matthew McConaughey's abs could have a film all on their own.  It wasn't all laughs and stripping but I felt it actually showed a relatively true representation of male strippers (because, you know, I have SO much knowledge on that subject...) so you can't complain I suppose.  The next film I will be seeing is the last Batman which I'm sure will be AMAZING, Christoper Nolan is a bit of a genius isn't he?
Hope you're all having a nice, chilled Sunday!  I'll be watching 'Big Bang Theory' re-runs and reading fashion magazines, what about you?
