Polka dots & peplums

WHITE PEPLUM TOP: DOROTHY PERKINS | POLKA DOT TROUSERS & SKULL NECKLACE: TOPSHOP | SHOES: CONVERSE

Thank gawddd am able to write this post with some pictures, I broke my camera yesterday after I dropped it (for about the sixth time, I had it for four months...) and this time it is properly, er, screwed.  Sob sob sob.  The worst thing is I was saving up for a DLSR, so there's really no point splashing cash on a two hundred pound one, only to start saving up for a five hundred pound one all over again.  Thankfully I've managed to borrow one for the time being.  Lots of my stuff will be going on eBay tomorrow evening though...
Aaaaaanyway, wearing these totally amazing trousers.  Again.  Probably make my ass look really big, but that's what it's all about these days, right?  That's how I'm justifying my big bootay, anyway, take it or leave it.  This peplum top I bought a couple of months ago and is one of first things which I thought of which would look great with these trews.  However I kept it casual with my Converse.  I keep having to tell people "No, they're MEANT to look worn, they don't need washing/throwing away!", er, yeah.
So the weather's been pretty nice in England today it seems.  If nice is sunny but still frickin' cold. (Come onnnnnn summer, where you at?)  Not like I've done much with my day anyway, I DID organise my wardrobe though!  Don't hate me 'cause you ain't me.  I also watched the final of Britian's Got Talent tonight, I kinda' wanted the guy who sang his own songs to his mystery love to win, he made my heart melt a little bit.  Why the heck does no one write a song about me?  If anyone is out there looking for some song writing inspiration, seriously, check me out.  Nudge wink.

Monochrome

WHITE PEPLUM TOP: DOROTHY PERKINS | BLACK PLEATHER SHORTS: RIVER ISLAND | SHOES: LEOPARD PRINT CONVERSE

There's something really effective about putting black & white together to make an outfit, isn't there?  I don't usually do it, the old monochrome thing, but I love this combination.  I was going to put a necklace with it but I even decided against that as I thought it looked better simple, as it is now.

My first peplum

TOP: DOROTHY PERKINS | JEANS: ASOS | BAG & SHOES: TOPSHOP

I featured this shirt in my 'wishful Wednesday' post last week and bought it a day or so later.  I love the look of peplums, especially on shirts, I think they're really flattering and let you get away with a what-would-have-been pretty casual, boring outfit.  I always planned to get one in white, too, making it perfect for summer time and days like today.  Plus I don't have enough whites in my wardrobe at the moment, in fact I'm pretty sure this is my only white piece of clothing...  And the jeans are just a normal, old pair which I actually can't bend my legs in, but you gotta make sacrifices!  And am wearing the ever-so-popular studded Vectras from Topshop, I think I am going to buy the nude pair also so I can have them for summer and this pair for autumn.  (I'm not one of them women with hundreds of pairs of shoes, but I'm slowly getting there...)
On another note, I'm having a little clearout as I can't actually fit any more clothes in my wardrobe, and for someone who shops more than one should, that's quite a problem... so if you're interested take a look here, I will keep adding stuff to it over the next week or so too, so keep an eye out.

Wishful wednesday

Two trends which I am clearly obsessed with this season: the peplum and sports luxe, which actually surprises even me because I expected myself to completely avoid that trend despite my growing Converse collection, but after seeing some bloggers carrying it off perfectly I can say that I've been converted.

An outfit inspired by movement

DRESS: DOROTHY PERKINS | NECKLACE: TOPSHOP | EARRINGS: NEW LOOK | SHOES: CONVERSE

This is my entry into the LG 6 Motion Give us a Spin Competition on Lily's blog.  I'm quite excited about this as I've only really entered little giveaways on other blogs (yet to win one!) but when I saw this competition I thought it sounded exciting and a great way to promote a product, and the prize is definitely a motivation!  The brief said to pick an outfit which is inspired by movement, so I thought this dipped-hem dress would be perfect because whenever I moved the back of the dress would flow behind me beautifully (the wind certainly helped, too!) and if there's one thing that this dress does, it's moving!

How I'd wear it: the pencil skirt

Dun dun dunnnn.
I love skirts.  Floaty, mini, bodycon... If it shows legs, I will take it.  But there's one type which I've been avoiding: the pencil skirt.  I'm a teenager and I don't work in an office, and for these reasons I have assumed, for the past however many years, that pencil skirts aren't allowed anywhere near my wardrobe.  But, fortunately or unfortunately, pencil skirts have been the skirt du jour for the past few seasons.  And seeing as I'm nearly officially a grown up I think now is probably an appropriate time to start looking more grown up.  But this does not mean I want to start looking like I am actually going to the office, if you look at a lot of pencil skirts which are being stocked at the moment they're in a variety of colours.  This Topshop one is the favourite which I've seen, plus it would also tick off the 'print' trend which is going to be big this summer (and every other one).
I'd definitely team it with more toned down items, like grey tees, to keep myself at least a little bit in my comfort zone.  And I can't forget a pair of le Converse! (one doesn't have to look COMPLETELY grown up, right?)  I think they would give the skirt a really interesting twist too, especially in this colour.  *adds to 'must buy' list* I also thought a few accessories would do a great job or bringing out some of the amazing colours in the skirt too, hence the neon pink watch and aqua-blue necklace.
Before you know it, office-workers everywhere will be jealous of the pencil skirts we can wear to a completely casual occasion.  This is probably definitely one of the best investment pieces you could buy...  Now, where's my credit card?
