Make love your goal

Skeleton top: TOPSHOP | Blue velvet maxi skirt: ASOS | Shoes: CONVERSE

Check out my new skirttt!  Ain't it amazing?  One cannot beat a bit of velvet in the festive season.  Velvet is pretty darn huge right now.  For this season, the extremely luxurious fabric has been seen to create blazers, dresses, trousers and then some.  Although black will probably be the most popular colour to buy it in, in my opinion the best way to wear it is in a jewel toned colour - greens, reds, and of course blue - to make the fabric look even more rich.  I mean, don't you just want to stroke it?
Like I said, velvet it perfect for this time of year due to its expensive, luxe appearance.  However, seeing as I don't run a very expensive day-to-day life, I decided to contrast this with a bit of a playful top and, yep, you guessed it, a pair of Converse.  If you asked me how to style velvet for daytime wear, this look would be my answer.  I think it's been toned down enough to make it overall a quite casual look, meaning you can get away with it no matter what the occasion.  I actually went to Tesco in the exact outfit last weekend.  I don't lie.  I'm not sure Burnley was quite ready for that, but hey, I like to see the shock on people's faces.  I'm going to Clothes Show Live on Tuesday and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to wear this skirt there as I feel like it's a stand-out item, which I think is pretty essential for Clothes Show.  I mean, I haven't been before, but the street style must be pretty great there, right?  I somehow don't think jeans will cut it.
I hope you've all had a nice weekend!  Mine has been nice and relaxed, apart from the amount of work I put into yesterday's post.  Thank you for your lovely feedback on that, by the way, I'm so glad a lot of you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed making it, it really meant a lot to me that you did.  I love it when hard work pays off!
Just one more day at uni for me *angels start to sing*.  And then the Clothes Show on Tuesday, and then home on Wednesday, YAY.  I love living in Manchester, and as a place little old Burnley doesn't even stand a chance against its awesomeness (I'm definitely a city person), but you can't beat some family time.  What will you be doing this Christmas?

Wishful Wednesday

1. This skirt is such a versatile piece, especially for autumn/winter time.  The contrast in textures gives it that little something to stop it being just a boring, black item.
2. This dress is so beautiful, I can't even stand it.  The print, the shape, the colours... everything.  Please, Father Christmas, I've been awfully good...
3. Everyone needs a pair of old man shoes, right?  Quite a far step away from my usual Converse, but teaming these with a grungy band tee would be so damn perfect.
4. I really want to own a midi dress so I can wear it with hi-tops to give it a cool, sporty twist.  Then add a bomber jacket and a gold, chunky chain necklace and you're ready to go.
5. What better way to inject some colour into your winter wardrobe than with a bright beanie hat?  I really like this colour, and the green one they have, too.
6. Quite a formal piece, but I'd dress it down.  I really like the subtle sparkle which this dress has.
7. I was browsing the River Island sale when I came across this.  Velvet is always a big hit in the colder months, this would look great simply thrown over a little black dress.
8. I have a thing for cool, printed tees, and this one would be such a great addition to my collection.

Tell me about it, stud

BLACK STUDDED VEST: EBAY | TOP & SKIRT: TOPSHOP | VELVET SHOES: ASOS

Happy easter everyone!  I had chocolate for breakfast (don't try it at home, kids) so that says everything about my day.  I also went to watch The Hunger Games (with my dad this time) and I actually liked it a lot more the second time but I didn't give it much credit the other day so I've just gotta say: IT'S AWESOME, GO WATCH IT.  Am definitely Team Peeta at the moment, he's so so so sweet!  (I have a tendency to get way too involved with films.)  I will probably spend the rest of the day eating chocolate and... no, that's pretty much it.

Gold foil

BLAZER: H&M | BLOUSE: RIVER ISLAND | SKIRT, NAILS & JEWELLERY: TOPSHOP | SHOES: CONVERSE via OFFICE

Sooo I only wore this blazer a few days ago, but I said it then and I'll say it again now: it goes with everything!    I like how the rolled up sleeves give it more of a casual feel, too.  Perfect for a chilled Saturday.  Although this skirt is becoming a little worse for wear - the gold is fading at the bottom, so am trying to make the most of it whilst I can!

Tiger tank

TOP, NECKLACE & SKIRT: TOPSHOP | SHOES: CONVERSE

Bought this tank today, am so pleased with it, tigers have been my favourite animal since forever, I think they're beautiful... such a tiger geek!  I couldn't decide whether it looked better with it tucked into the skirt or not, but I'm sure I'll wear it both ways anyway.
I watched the Brits earlier, well, I fast-forwarded most of it, I was more interested to see what people were wearing.  But I am so glad the Foo Fighters won one, it gives me a little bit of faith in Britain's pretty rubbish taste of 'music' (ahem One Direction (going against popular opinion here, I know...)).  Jessie J and Rihanna (sans the long brown gloves) win my vote for best dressed, and I'm not a die-hard Adele fan but I thought she looked stunning!
Am now going to spend the rest of my night watching some vintage episodes of SATC, can't go wrong with that.

Read please!: I've recently stumbled upon Tiger Time, who have a petition on their site to ban tiger trade (stop the killing of tigers for their skin) in China, they need 100,000 people to sign by the 13th of March and they're currently at 76,794 so please help by signing the petition, it literally takes a few seconds.  Want to help?  Sign here, and since the tigers can't say it I will: thank you!
