So my spending ban was going extremely well, having resisted shopping online in the boxing day sales.  But then I went back to Manchester for uni and the ban got obliterated, in fact I went shopping before I'd even unpacked.  I can't say I regret it though, I got some really awesome things and I think my best bargain was the gold and black dress, reduced from £65 to £20, wow.  I'll be uploading a haul video within the next week on my Youtoob channel, so keep an eye out if you're interested in seeing that.

First Youtube video: Christmas haul

I posted this video the other day showing what I got for Christmas, if you're interested.  I know the sound's pretty bad, I don't know how to fix this?

(Jurassic Park trilogy, a dinosaur tea towel and a cartoon dinosaur movie, is anyone seeing a running theme in this haul?)

Knitwear, dresses and books, oh my!  Boy oh boy, have I done some shopping.  And may I point out, this is me being "sensible".  I could have easily done a lot more damage.  Very easily, in fact.  After seeing this, though, I somehow don't think I deserve a pat on the back for my efforts.  As the title says, all of this stuff is from the past couple of months, I didn't go crazy and buy it all at once.  I'm definitely pleased with all my purchases, when I watch hauls on Youtube a lot of girls tend to say 'I think I'll take this back', but that never happens to me.  I'm not really an impulse buyer, before I buy things I usually have to think about them first.  For a lot of these items I saw them online, decided I liked them and then went to the store to see if I really liked them (I always did, it never ended well).  As a result, I always end up loving the clothes I buy.  I've discovered I've got to know my style a lot better over the past few months, because there's basically nothing in my wardrobe which I would willingly put on eBay, which is a difference to the piles of clothes I usually build up.  It's a bit of a shame on one hand because I could really do with the cash, but whatever, my wardrobe and I are on very good terms right now.
I'd pick a favourite piece but after looking back, I can't.  I mean, the faux leather pants, I will wear them again and again and again (etc) until it becomes physically impossible to continue wearing them, but then the velvet maxi skirt is such a stand-out piece.  And I got a good eleven pounds off it (ASOS strikes again) which makes me love it even more.  And the fishnet tee from H&M is unlike anything I own, but it's so damn perfect... Oh, I can't bloody choose.  If you have a favourite, do let me know.
I've also been buying a variety of DVDs and books, as well as Rihanna's newest album (obviously).  I receive a 'student support package' off my university which is income based.  Pretty much meaning I get four thousand pounds on my uni card, over the next couple of years, to use at the Student Union shop (which my brother keeps telling me to visit to get him some free chocolate) and also at the Blackwell's bookshop across the road.  I am a book worm, so this is very exciting to me.  Hence why I've gone a bit crazy and bought a wide variety of books.  I haven't got my nose stuck into any of them yet but am sure I will do over the Christmas holiday.  They were also stocking dinosaur tea towels in their Christmas gifts section, which inevitably had to be added to my basket.
I've also bought a fair few Disney DVDs (one cannot beat old school Disney!) as well as some of the newer ones which I saw at the cinema, such as 'Red Lights' and 'Spiderman'.  I am someone who can watch films more than once, so when a movie has an impact on me, I buy it.
And that's it!  Living in Manchester is still proving to be terrible for me, yet is doing wonderful things for my clothes collection.
You win some, you lose some.

Mini Urban Outfitters haul

Ganesh print tee, elephant rug & elephant canvas: URBAN OUTFITTERS

I was talking on here the other day about how moving to Manchester has made me explore my style more, but the move has also resulted in me spending more.  A lot more.  A few months ago I hardly ever went into Urban Outfitters because my hometown doesn't have one, but I now regularly go inside the store to have a browse.  I can tell you that it's quickly become one of my favourite high-street brands, and definitely my top place to buy home ware.  Their stuff is so quirky and unique, and although I can't afford nearly as much stuff on there as I'd like to, I think these three are a good place to start.
Now, you may have noticed a recurring theme: elephants.  I bloody love elephants and they're my favourite animal ever since watching a documentary on them at half four in the morning a few months ago.  I think they're beautiful and I am completely in awe of them.  Am I a crazy elephant lady?  Well I've just bought two things with elephants on them for a home which I don't even own, so go figure.
I firstly saw the top in the store and liked it straight away.  I was taught Hinduism a couple of years ago at college and ended up really liking it as a religion, I thought it was really cool how they had all their different gods.  As we was going through them one by one in each lesson, Ganesha stood out to me and ended up being my favourite.  Which is quite convenient, due to the fact that he has an elephant head.  He is widely known as the Remover of Obstacles, and I just think he's a really cool guy.  I also really like the colours on this top, and will wear it a lot from now.
The other two things I spotted online.  After realising that UO do a few pieces of clothing with elephants on, I typed in 'elephant' into the search bar to make sure I could browse them all, and up popped these two.  I adore them both and although I can't put them on display right now, at least I know they're there and won't be kicking myself in ten years because I didn't buy the amazing elephant things from Urban Outfitters.  I think the canvas is beautiful and even better in person, and I thankfully got that in the sale.
So there we are, I'm currently on a spending ban now (after purchasing two things from ASOS, what with their 25% student discount) but I can't wait to add more elephant themed stuff when I get more money, so some time next year...

New Topshop sale & Republic purchases

Studded cross back vest & racer back vest: REPUBLIC (Crafted brand)

Blue military style shirt & underwear sets: TOPSHOP (sale)

Can you believe that I have been shopping again?  Yeah, so can I... I've decided that I need to go on one shopping trip a week, or else, well, I won't be satisfied will I?  Ahem.
I never really shop in Republic, I've only ever had access to an actual store since I moved to Manchester, but ever since seeing this vest in one of Grace's Youtube videos, I have wanted to buy it.  So I went into the store a few days later, couldn't find it.  Tried again yesterday, thought I found it when I saw this grey vest, but alas, it wasn't the right one.  However I did like this one anyway so I ended up buying it, as you can see.  And then I saw the red one, and I bought that too... They definitely have the grunge factor, with their dark shades and frayed hems, and I really like the low sleeve holes, so I just had to buy.  I can't wait to wear these.
The reason I went shopping in the first place yesterday is because Topshop emailed about them having a sale on.  Now I've never been to a Topshop sale in their massive Manchester store before, so I just had to go and check it out as quick as I could.  I could have done a lot more damage to my bank than I did, though, so I thought I've been pretty sensible.  These were all easy buys for me.  I've wanted this military shirt ever since it became available online, and I even included it in a 'Wishful Wednesday' post a couple of months or so ago, so when I saw that this had been reduced to £20, man, was I a happy chappy.  They also do one in a khaki green colour, but I've always preferred the blue version so I just left it at this one.  And how can a girl say no to a couple of pretty sets of underwear in the sale?  I also had my eye on these sets when they were full price, but I find it harder to justify spending twenty five pounds or whatever on underwear, when you can buy a cool top which everyone is going to see.  I do love me some lingerie, though, so I was really pleased to grab these at a lower price.
Have you bagged yourself anything in the Topshop sale?  Maybe you're trying your very best to avoid it?  I've actually heard a few people on Twitter say they didn't think it was great, so they didn't get anything.  Well, I'm happy with mine!
