Feel my bones...

Camo jacket, skeleton top & khaki green skater skirt: TOPSHOP | Fishnet top: FOREVER 21 | Shoes: CONVERSE

I haven't worn this camo jacket in ages - partly my fault, partly my mother's - but as a last second decision I put it on.  I didn't get chance to look in a mirror (yeah, literally last second) so I was kinda' taking a stab in the dark thinking it would look good with the outfit, especially due to the colour of the skirt.  And I've got to say after looking at these photos, I'm pretty pleased I added it.  Maybe you disagree, but I've worn it now so it's a bit late innit?  It might sound a little crazy but I think if it wasn't for the red lipstick I actually wouldn't have liked it, but you probably know that I'm a big fan of my red lippie and wear it with nearly every outfit.
Despite the snow (how is it not 20 degrees yet?  C'mon Muvvah Nature) I wanted to take my jacket off and show off what was underneath.  It was only the other day when I wore the combination of the skeleton top layered over the fishnet top, however I liked it so much that I'm bring it back already, yeah baby.  I wore it with jeans and a beanie last time so it's a little less casual today and I'm still digging it.  I didn't expect to get so much wear out of this fishnet top when I purchased it a few weeks ago, I mean, I bought it for the specific purpose of wearing it with my dungarees, but it's getting to the point where I'm wearing it with nearly every top in my wardrobe.  Hey, I'm getting my money's worth, I'm okay with it.

Cross my heart

Camo jacket & black coated bowling bag: TOPSHOP | Grey vest with cut-out cross back: REPUBLIC (Crafted brand) | Contrast grey snood: ASOS | Skinny jeans: ZARA | Shoes: CONVERSE

I feel like Autumn is pretty much a rollercoaster ride in respect to what the weather is going to be like.  You can wake up in the morning to a bright, sunny day, and once lunch time hits the clouds have swallowed up the sun and it's much chillier outside.  Thankfully there is a solution to stop one leaving the house in a summer dress only to be really regretting it hours later, and that solution is layering.  Not only are layered outfits completely practical for this season, but fortunately for us, everyone can layer.  Yep, this isn't just some trend that you will have forgotten about in a few months, layering is something that is a huge hit every A/W season.  In fact for a lot of countries, England especially (ahem), it's pretty much a necessity.  I actually think that finding the right mix of colours and textures to go together makes getting dressed even more fun.
My camo jacket makes such an easy layering piece.  I try not to wear it too much as nearly every single person on my fashion course has a similar jacket (I HAD IT FIRST, OK?), but once the novelty wears off I'll start wearing it more again.  It is over-sized and quite a heavy piece (albeit very comfortable) which means it's a great transitional item as you don't have to wear a big, winter coat over it but it still keeps you warm enough throughout the day.  For now it does, anyway.  I then added this snood.  This is also great for layering as I don't need a big, chunky scarf just yet, and this is nice and light.  I actually didn't need it in the morning as it was a bit too warm, so I just popped it in my bag and wore it later on when it started to get colder.
This top is a new purchase which you might have seen in my mini haul post a few days ago.  I really like the faded grey colour and the frayed hem, but the back of it was definitely its selling point for me.  Naturally a few of the studs have come off already, which was what I was expecting, but nothing a bit of superglue can't fix.
Hope you all have a nice weekend!  I don't think I'm really do anything apart from going out for lunch later and then into town.  I might be going to see 'The Perks of being a Wallflower' at the cinemas as I've read the book and I've heard the film is really good.  I went to see 'Taken 2' on Wednesday and that was AWESOME.  Liam Neeson has one hundred percent still got it, he kicked butt and I was on the edge of my seat throughout.

To think I might not see those eyes...

Camo jacket & flower/spike headband: TOPSHOP | White tee: ZARA | Skinny pink jeans: ASOS | Shoes: CONVERSE

If a camo jacket can go with a floral headband, a camo jacket can go with anything.  I bought this headband in the Topshop sale the other day.  I don't usually wear them but after seeing this one - with spikes AND flowers, whoda funk it?! - I can officialy say I've been converted.  It's the perfect mix of pretty and fierce and would therefore go with pretty much any outfit, from an LBD to, well, an outfit like this one.  I decided to wear the pink jeans to make the headband look like it wasn't out of place in the outfit.  I teamed it with simple items and without jewellery in order to make sure it was the focus of the look.  The jacket is probably an unlikely choice, what with its army print and all, but I thought 'Why the hell not?' and ended up really liking the two of them together.  An unlikely match, but one which I love.
The more I look at these pictures the more convined I am to get a ridiculously big crown with huge flowers so I could totally rock some kind of Queen-of-the-erm-garden(?) look, but perhaps I'm taking it a little too far.
So I went on a walk today, trying to take advantage of the nice weather etc, and instead I got covered in hundreds of nettle stings plus the bumps on my legs from my, er, grass allergy.  Not a good look, and it was not a goo walk.  DAMN YOU NATURE.  Think I'll just stay inside for, like, ever from now on.
As I said yesterday I'm off to see Batman AGAIN tomorrow, which I'm still looking forward to.  It's going on my top five films ever, that's how good it is.  Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy plus Joseph Gordon-Levitt in one film?  Uh, GO ON THEN.

Tougher than a lion, ain't no need in tryin'...

CAMO JACKET & BLACK MESH DRESS: TOPSHOP | SHOES: CONVERSE

A simple outfit today but one which I still really like, I think all the items work really together.  This jacket is one of the newest additions to my wardrobe, and definitely one of my favourite items.  I've worn it a few times already but today I decided to go down the easies and most obvious route.  I introduce to you (although you've probably already heard of it): the little black dress.  They say every woman should own an LBD, I, however, own three.  And it's still growing, dun dun dunnn.
This dress is quite an important part of my wardrobe and probably something which I won't throw away even if it ever comes to a point when I don't wear it anymore.  This is because years ago, when I was happily skipping out of my tomboy comfort zone after realising the world of wearing dresses is a much more fun place to be, this was the first dress I bought.  And, as they say, the rest is history!  I decided on this specific one after being inspired by Rihanna in a similar (albeit a little more revealing) black mesh dress.  Although it might be a bit of a boring item to some, it was the perfect thing for me to buy when I was a 'beginner' in the fashion world, and I think the relatively subtle mesh panels definitely give it an interesting touch (and, you know, let's not pretend you can't see a bit of boobage...).
The jacket gives it a bit of an androgynous touch, which I always welcome to any outfit.  A woman complimented it and asked where it was from, and it's always nice when that happens!  The shoes offer the perfect amount of colour as well, a touch of red lipstick would have completed it nicely, but I stupidly put mine through the washing machine and now it's more pink than red, so I'll have to purchase a new one.
I have gone one step worse than yesterday and awoke at TWO today, Jesus Christ.  I went to sleep at half five after reading a book for a few hours (one does lead a crazy life), it's eventually going to reach the point where I just pull an all nighter, but hey ho there you go.
I watched 'The Dark Knight' the other day, 'watched' meaning I stared at the screen whilst asking questions.  The whole. Way. Through. (I am the worst person to watch a movie with).  Despite that I think Heath Ledger was absolutely amazing in it (I actually didn't recognise him from his role in '10 Things I Hate About You') and I will be seeing the new Batman film later this month.
Hope you've all had/are having a nice day!

It's a brave new world

CAMO JACKET & DENIM SHIRT: TOPSHOP | LACE SHORTS: ASOS | SHOES: CONVERSE

What did I say the other day?  This jacket can be thrown over anything, ANYTHING, I TELL YOU.  Today I went for all of my go-to items - black shorts, denim shirt and Converse - and just chucked them all together to make one outfit (because it is that simple, ahem...).  A denim shirt is obviously a staple for your summer wardrobe but due to the lack of, erm, summer, I've had to make it work for autumn/winter looks, so this jacket was the perfect addition because it's an awesome layering piece.  They're both oversized and the shirt is lightweight and not tight (which I like) so the I teamed them with shorts to show a little leg (albeit under tights, not by choice, people...) in order to show I am under there, somewhere.
I know some people only wear shorts in the summer - sans tights - and although denim shorts are usually the popular option to wear with tights it's not one which I really choose.  I have a thing about wearing summery things, like denim shorts, with wintery things, like tights.  It's kind of like a man in socks and sandles, except maybe not as bad.  Don't get me wrong though, I do think some women can pull the look off but I just tend to stay away from it and buy shorts which are appropriate for all seasons.
I can't stop wearing these specific pair of Converse at the moment, I usually prefer the high-top style but I think I am beginning to change my mind.  I love them, they are just my perfect shoe (although I definitely would not say no to some Louboutins) and I would absolutely wear a pair them with my wedding dress, that's how strongly I feel that they can work with any outfit, (why don't I just get the wedding dress and marry the damn shoe?).
I am a bit better today but yesterday I was in quite a bad mood for the whole day and realised that night that it was because there was no Christian Grey in my life.  And I'm not even joking.  After reading 'Fifty Shades of Grey' for two days, NON STOP, only to get completely hooked on it, on a fictional person, I am NOT looking forward to finishing the trilogy.  I think I need therapy or something, do they have help groups for this kind of stuff?
I might be going to the movies tomorrow to see something about President Lincoln fighting vampires tomorrow, I really can't understand why people have put them two together to make a movie (I must have missed that history lesson?) but I've heard it's good, so what the hell.

Army jacket

CAMO JACKET, GREY PEPLUM TOP, BLACK SKINNY JEANS, SPIKE BRACELET & BLACK PATENT SHOES: TOPSHOP

Oh helloooooo, new jacket.  Undoubtedly my favourite new item in my wardrobe, EVAH.  One day it's hot, the next day week it's cold, so this jacket is the perfect transitional piece.  It would look amazing in the winter, obviously, but also thrown over a simple dress during the summer, which is exactly what I'll be doing if the weather starts to look up at some point.  I have wanted an army style jacket for a while now, and this seasonal staple definitely will become one of my go-to pieces, I could wear it with literally anything!  I've seen a few bloggers wearing these over the past few months, but their jackets were all vintage.  I'm not one who does or even attempts to do or even can if I want to do vintage shopping, so when this came in stock on Topshop's website I added to my basket without, er, ANY hesitation, which is not like me at all.  I also bought this top (and maybe some shorts, too...) which featured on my 'Wishful Wednesday' post a couple of weeks ago, on which Charlotte commented saying she bought the same top in cream but the sizing was a bit small, so I decided to size up and thankfully it was the right choice!  It's still very body hugging, but not tight or uncomfortable.  I thought the shoes contrasted with the jacket perfectly.  I really want to stud the shoulders but I've never studded before, despite me REALLY wanting to, but I'm not sure how to do it except buy the studs... I'm sure I need to buy a tool to put the holes in the jacket to put the studs through, ermmmm?  Maybe you know of any good tutorial posts?
I've been enjoying my summer holidays so far, meaning I've been spending all my time on Twitter, Blogger and reading.  I've finished reading 'One Day' and 'Water for Elephants' in the past three days (both really good) and now I'm onto 'Fifty Shades of Grey' - maybe you've heard of it?
